GSP Program Officer, Lonah Maiko providing education to girls at Precious Talent Academy
Global School Partners facilitates a range of Programs in all Partner Schools. These Programs address common issues that all our schools experience, in contrast to School Projects which are specific needs of the school involved.
Global School Partners’ only paid worker is our Program Officer in Kenya, Lonah Maiko (pictured above in red), who visits each school monthly to facilitate, audit and report on each Program’s implementation.
Programs include:
Young Women’s Program
KEEPING OUR YOUNG WOMEN IN SCHOOL
Young women at our partner schools miss up to one week a month, 25% of their schooling, due to menstruation. Some contributing factors to them being absent from school are:
Lack of sanitary pads
Lack of person understanding about puberty and menstruation
Cultural perceptions about menstruation
GSP’s Program Officer
Lonah Maiko is GSP’s Program Officer who visits each partner school in Kenya every month.
Lonah’s role is to:
Maintain the Young Women’s Program
Check the sanitation conditions
Collect data on absenteeism
Provide on going education to Health Officers
Meet with all scholarship students
The new toilets at School of Hope
GSP Treatment Program - drinking water and toilets
good education outcomes need healthy children and teachers
Basic health issues are a real challenge when drinking water is contaminated or ablution facilities are unsanitary. We know that by providing clean water and enabling hygienic toilet facilities we reduce absenteeism due to illness (such as gastro, skin and eye disease) by 72%.
Urgent - funds needed
The Treatment Program is currently unfunded and has had to be ceased. This means an increase in disease and the consequent absence from school for many children.

Students happy to have new curriculum text books
New curriculum text books
Kenyan curriculum changes means new text books required
The 2018 curriculum change in Kenya has meant that every school needs new text books and teacher’s guides. The new curriculum launched affecting students up to Year 3 and now adds on a Year level each calendar year until all class levels are teaching the new curriculum.
Help us give our children the right text books
This means GSP has a target of providing text books to each new class level until 2023.
It also means new sets of text books for new schools as they are partnered. Donate now
