GSP Jiggers Trial

Jiggers (or Tungiasis) are a small sand flea that buries into the skin causing painful swelling and extreme discomfort this occurs particularly in children without shoes in sandy areas. GSP teams have seen the effect that Jiggers has on young children and is teaming up with the University of Canberra, School of Pharmacy to facilitate a clinical trial for the treatment of Jiggers. The trial will commence in January 2020 and GSP schools in Kenya will host the children and medical teams.

Amazingly, GSP schools now have very few cases of Jiggers because the children have shoes and the classrooms have cement floors. However, children in the community around the schools still have a high prevalence of Jiggers and we will use our facilities to help these community children.

To support this trial and provide shoes for children please donate here.
