Charleen is a very bright student, currently fourth in her class. She wishes to finish primary school and move on to secondary education. She is one of five children. Her father is a causal labourer and the sole breadwinner of the family. He struggles to afford food and school fees for his children.

Vivian was born in 2009. She lives with her parents who are both unemployed. Her parents take casual jobs when available but it is never enough to provide a stable income for the family. Vivian is intelligent and comes in the top 3 in class, most of the time and her mother is determined that Vivian should get a good education.

Esther is currently second in her class. Esther is looked after by her single mother who works casually. Her mother cannot afford daily meals for the family. Esther is a very bright young woman who is in danger of dropping out of school to help support her family.

Emily was born in 2010 and is currently fourth in her class and enjoys singing, dancing and reading. Her parents are unemployed and struggling to pay for Emily’s education.

Lauren was born in 2008 and is currently undertaking her final year at primary school. She hopes to continue her education after this year by achieving good marks and getting into secondary school. Lauren is currently second in her class. Her mother is a single parent and sole guardian. Unfortunately, Lauren’s mother lost her job recently and is struggling to provide for her family.

Leonard is a very intelligent student who achieves over 400 out of 500 in academic results. However his parents cannot afford school fees as they do not have reliable income and the school allows him to attend for free. However given the family situation without a scholarship Leonard is very likely to be withdrawn from school to start work to help the family.
