Dennis was born in 2008 and has two sisters Lucy and Mercy and a brother Simon. His father died 3 years ago and was the breadwinner. This has meant that his mother Eunice is struggling to support the family with basic necessities and she sells corn in the street market.
Martha’s is 4 years old and really enjoys school. Unfortunately her father, Josiah, lost his job in a company restructure and was attacked by robbers shortly afterwards. The robbers maimed him during the attack and he is incapacitated and unable to work.This has the left the family in a precarious position and Martha’s schooling at risk.
Sharon is 4 years old and performs well in school. Her father, Jason, was the bread winner for the family but was in a motor accident and is unable to work. This has left Sharon’s mother, Naom, struggling to cover the basics for her family, meaning that frequently they have no food and go hungry.
Shaniah was born in 2014 and has a sister Lea. They live with their parents Kepha and Christine. Shaniah’s father Kepha is disabled and cannot work, leaving Christine as the breadwinner for the family. Christine is unable to earn sufficiently to adequately cater for the family’s basic needs.
Duke was born in 2014 and has a brother Lewis and a sister Josephine. They live with their parents Duke and Asinate who are subsistence farmers on a small plot of land. In good seasons the family is still very poor and the recent drought conditions have left the family really struggling to make ends meet.
Mercy was born in 2015 and lives with her mother Mercy Kwamboka Nyanga’u. When her mother was 6 months pregnant with Mercy she and her husband were involved in a car accident, she was badly injured and her husband was killed. She is bringing up Mercy on her own and sells vegetables for others to try to support the two of them.
