Urgent Appeal - Surgeon Primary School
March 2017 - Surgeon Primary has 2 brick classrooms, however it is the older mud and stick ones that are causing grave concern. The walls of two mud classrooms are collapsing and the Department of Health has ordered their closure due to the safety risk. Funds are needed to fix the existing mud classrooms or build brick ones. Please help and donate now.
Success of previous appeals
2016 - Nearly all GSP schools in Kenya have water access either from a well or water tanks. In 2016 our Walk for Water campaign involved two Australian pharmacists (Mark Naunton and Shane Jackson) walking the Kokoda Trail and raising money for water projects in GSP schools. GSP was able to install 4 water tanks and provide water to our schools and students.
In June 2014 one of the Kenya schools, Kerobe Joybright Academy, had four of its classrooms bulldozed as a local official wanted to put a road in that precise location – there was no compensation and only two week’s notice for the school. See the pictures of Kerobe Joybright Academy rebuilt.
St Thomas Nyakobaria Academy was deluged by heavy rain and a flash flood. Their generous partner school Penrith High School, NSW has helped rebuild the school.
